The Vaccine Trials Group (VTG) works in close collaboration with departments at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children (PMH).
Clinical Trials Pharmacy
The Vaccines Trials Group has access to a world class Clinical Trials Pharmacy Facility. Experienced clinical trials pharmacists, led by Margaret Shave, ensure that all clinical trials investigational products are stored, dispensed and accounted for according to good clinical practice.
The Meningitis Centre
VTG works closely with The Meningitis Centre, helping raise awareness about meningitis and promote meningitis prevention through immunisation. We are members of their committee and the Centre is extremely supportive in promoting our meningitis vaccine studies through their activities.
The Health Department of WA
The Vaccines Trials Group has a long history of collaboration with the Health Department of WA and Communicable Disease Control Directorate. Research projects include reviewed the immunisation rates in children in central Perth and looked at why parents chose to immunise the children at the Central Immunisation Centre at Rheola St, West Perth.
We also continue to have strong links with the Population Health Areas and the Child and Adolescent Community Health Divisions.
Amanda Young Foundation
Formed in 1998, following the death of Amanda Young from meningococcal septicaemia at the age of 18 years, the proactive Foundation works to raise awareness about meningococcal disease through fundraising and education in the community, schools and to the medical profession.
The Foundation holds a bi-annual Meningitis Conference in WA. Where an audience of health professionals and consumers are provided with an excellent array of speakers, including Dr Peter Richmond from VTG. We maintain links with the Foundation to assist with raising awareness about meningococcal disease through early detection and treatment and promotion of prevention through immunisation.
The Immunisation Alliance WA
The Immunisation Alliance are an independent diverse group, committed to promoting the benefits of immunisation. They are parents, health professionals and other concerned people within the Western Australian community who are passionate about immunisation. The primary aim is to share knowledge and provide information to consumers, to assist in making an informed decision on immunisation. The Alliance is always looking for new members that have an interest in their community and can contribute to the important work of raising awareness about immunisation.
